This is the debut album from Zoon Phonanta, Berlinâs finest two-thirds Welsh, one third Danish instrumental psych-disco trio.
Imagine Jaki Liebzeit (Can), JJ Burnell (Stranglers) and Jean-Michel Jarre locked in a room together, with a memo from John Carpenter that reads âGoblin + Swans = ?â. Something like that. Raw drums, bass, vintage organs and synths are utilised to brutal effect via seven epic songs that deliver Krautrock disco disquietude, oscillating horror soundtracks and beyond. Or, as the band themselves insist: âthe Nicki Minaj of dungeon synthâ.
The band name, according to Anthony Burgess, is the Greek classifying nomenclature for man aka The Talking Animal.
Features guest vocals from Gemma Ray. Recorded and mixed by Ingo Krauss (Swans,
Einsturzende Neubauten) at Candy Bomber, Berlin.
LP pressed on pink and black splatter colour vinyl, with digital download card.
