Â
Sharp and legendary music producer Joe Chiccarrelli took these recordings to Los Angelesâ famed East/West Studios, where the Beach Boys created Pet Sounds and Sinatra recorded My Way, to take a deeper look into this mysterious reel of 1-inch Ampex tape. What the two men quickly discovered was the original lineup of the group in an explosively joyful and feral form. Making the decision to honor the original era and intention of the music, the songs were remixed from top to bottom, from tape to vinyl, in a 100% analog process.
With Sharp as executive producer and Chiccarelli on the mix, the result of these sessions makes up the entirety of the new Weezer album titled â1192â (named after the month and year it was originally recorded.) The illuminating spirit of the performances on 1192 are guaranteed to give fans a whole new perspective on the origins of the blue album and stand on its own right as a significant and crucial entry into the bandâs catalog.
Rivers Cuomo: Lead Vocals & Guitar
Matt Sharp: Bass Guitar & Vocals
Jason Cropper: Guitar & Vocals
Pat Wilson: Drums
