In a continuation of the Brothers Johnsonâs long-standing collaboration, Matt Johnson has scored his brother Gerardâs film, Odyssey (starring Polly Maberly and Mikael Persbrandt), released in UK cinemas 7th November 2025. Two tracks from the Odyssey soundtrack are available on this limited edition double A-side 7â vinyl single, âUnrequitedâ / âLive & Let Liveâ featuring previously unseen artwork by Matt and Gerardâs late brother, Andrew (AKA Andy Dog). Released by CinĂ©ola in partnership with earMUSIC.
Unlike Gerardâs previous films, Odyssey centres around a female protagonist. Though most of the soundtrack is instrumental, for the songs with vocals (these two singles), Matt felt it would be fitting to feature a female vocalist â in this case Gillian Glover, who also sang backing vocals on Ensoulment. THE THE has a history of collaborating and duetting with notable female vocalists such as Neneh Cherry, Anna Domino, Sinead OâConnor, Meja Kullersten and Liz Horsman. However, on âLive & Let Liveâ, it is the first time someone other than Matt has sung the lead vocal. Barrie Cadogan, THE THEâs guitarist on Ensoulment, as well as for The Comeback Special and Ensouled world tours, also plays electric guitars on âUnrequitedâ.
