Â
For their sixth album, âWhat We Are Made Ofâ, SHALOSH turn their focus inward while extending the scope of their sound. The music reflects the trioâs shared history, shaped
by years of collaboration and extensive touring, and draws on the influences and impulses that have gradually formed their collective musical language.
The album combines original pieces with compelling and surprising interpretations of iconic rock and pop songs. It moves between groove-based passages, more reflective
moments and sections of heightened intensity. Jazz functions here less as a stylistic framework than as an approach - open-ended, physical and adaptable - making room for elements drawn from rock, classical music and popular song within a clearly defined trio setting.Â
Recorded with an emphasis on immediacy and interaction, âWhat We Are Made Ofâ mirrors the qualities central to SHALOSHâs live performances. In concert, the material remains flexible and responsive, shaped in real time by the close musical connection between the three players.Â
Produced by Andreas Brandis, the album was created through a collaborative process that prioritized clarity and directness. Rather than offering conclusions, âWhat We Are Made Ofâ documents an ongoing exploration of identity, sound and collective expression.
CD in six-page digipack.
