Released in 1989, ‘Solo Piano’ is a collection of works from minimalist composer Philip Glass of unplugged piano music, recorded without overdubs or any other embellishments. The five tracks making up the ‘Metamorphosis’ suite were largely written for a stage production of Franz Kafka’s novella; ‘Mad Rush’ was composed for a visit of the Dalai Lama to NYC; and ‘Wichita Vortex Sutra’ is a co-write with beat poet Allen Ginsberg.
